After ten years as an emergency room doctor, I started a new career with a clear mission: to help people navigate a medical system that has become increasingly complex and impersonal.
I began with medical writing. My goal was to translate medical information into accessible language so people could make informed choices about their care. In doing so, I learned how working outside the hospital allowed me to be a more effective advocate.
In both my clinical and writing career, I have been deeply drawn to supporting people at the end of life. This meaningful time — one that holds the potential for connection, healing, and peace — is too often filled with fear and suffering. As a death doula, I want to help individuals and families feel supported, informed, and cared for so that death can be approached with comfort and dignity.
My credentials:
Bachelor of Arts (Harvard University)
Medical Doctorate (University of Pennsylvania)
Board-Certified Emergency Medicine Physician (Harvard Emergency Medicine Residency)
End-of-Life Doula Professional Certificate (University of Vermont)
